Washington [US], April 18 (ANI): The ' Highlander ' reboot, with Henry Cavill Chad Stahelski starring and directing is switching studios.

The project is continuing to move ahead, but it will now head in a different direction. Amazon MGM Studios ' United Artists (American film production and distribution company controlled by Amazon MGM Studios ) is currently in advanced talks to obtain the package from Lionsgate. The movie is set for theatrical release, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

' Highlander Released in 1986, this fantasy action-adventure movie was helmed by director Russell Mulcahy and written by Gregory Widen, Peter Bellwood, and Larry Ferguson. The main cast includes Christopher Lambert, Roxanne Hart, Clancy Brown, and Sean Connery.

The slogan “there can only be one” implies that these fighters engage in combat with each other. As they slay more immortals, their strength increases, until just one survives. According to the source, this movie led to four follow-up films and three TV series.

As part of this agreement, UA’s Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will serve as producers. Neal H. Moritz will collaborate with Stahelski’s production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, on producing duties. The screenplay will be written by Michael Fench, known for his work on Stahelski's "John Wick: Chapter 4."

Cavill has been linked to the project since 2021, whereas Stahelski has been involved since 2016.

The director discussed the initiative, stating, "It's simply a challenging aspect to tackle due to the Highlander The property is highly intricate, and the mythos is incredibly rich. However, attempting to claim it as our own while staying faithful to the source material and doing it in a manner that feels uniquely ours can be quite challenging. We aim neither to create a remake nor a complete overhaul; instead, we seek to produce something new that embraces the beloved elements from the initial film’s lore.

Cavill is currently collaborating with Amazon, where he will star in their forthcoming Voltron film. Additionally, he is working on developing Warhammer 40,000 into a major franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (ANI)
