
Chennai (Tamil Nadu), India — On March 25, ANI reported that Manoj Bharathiraja, an actor and director from Tamil cinema and the son of renowned filmmaker and actor Bharathiraja, has died.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, expressed his sorrow over the loss of the actor through an update on his X account. He wrote, "I am profoundly grieved to learn about the demise of Mr. Manoj Bharathiraja, who was the offspring of renowned actor and director Bharathiraja. Making his cinematic début in 'Taj Mahal,' which was helmed by his father, he later starred in numerous movies such as 'Samuthiram,' 'Alli Arjuna,' and 'Varushamellam Vasantham.' His contributions left a lasting impression before he ventured into direction."
"The sudden passing away of this young individual has left us profoundly shocked. I extend my heartfelt sympathies and consolation to Iyakkunar Imayam Bharathiraja, along with his relatives and colleagues in the cinema world who are mourning the death of their cherished child," he said additionally.
Several members of the Tamil film industry also paid their respects. Director Venkat Prabhu shared a picture of Manoj with his friends and wrote, "Really shocking to hear the news... can't believe you are no more, my brother. #Manoj gone tooooo soon... deepest condolences to @offBharathiraja, uncle, family, and friends. May your soul rest in peace."
