On April 7, the Punjab Home Department requested the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Rangers to ensure security during the HBL PSL X cricket tournament. Scheduled from April 11 to May 18 across Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, this event requires stringent safety measures for both games and associated activities.
To ensure safety in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, the Home Department has sought one battalion from the Rangers and two companies from the Pakistan Army for deployment at each location. Moreover, they have requested support from SSG commandos along with Army Aviation helicopters to bolster security measures during these events.
Furthermore, the Punjab Home Department is set to organize the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier matches. These games will be held in Lahore and will involve teams from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, West Indies, and Thailand. Security measures include deploying rangers and army personnel on duty up till April 20th to guarantee safety during the event.
A formal application for these safety measures has been sent to the Federal Ministry of Interior. The detailed security strategy intends to safeguard athletes, representatives, and spectators during the events.
