P4G Summit Unites Global Leaders on Sustainable, People-Centered Green Transition

Addis Ababa, April 18, 2025 (ENA) — According to Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, the fourth P4G Summit on Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 proved to be an effective gathering focused on generating actionable insights and conversations aimed at achieving a sustainable and inclusive green transformation.

At the conclusion of the P4G Summit held in Hà Nội, he addressed an audience comprising over 40 nations and international bodies. Attendees included Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun, along with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed.

During his address, Prime Minister Chính stated, "There was a shared recognition that the shift towards greener practices is an unavoidable progression—an essential necessity, a strategic decision, and a critical focus for effectively attaining our sustainability objectives," he noted, further emphasizing that such transformation necessitates worldwide cooperation involving various stakeholders including governments, corporations, societies, and individuals, with the aim of fostering comprehensive and fair economic advancement."

A wealth of enlightening viewpoints, crucial teachings, motivating narratives, and innovative proposals emerged from the summit’s conversations. In addition, various hands-on events took place, including a showcase of eco-friendly goods and services, along with a business connection event.

Highlighting the shared contributions toward the summit’s success, Prime Minister Chính emphasized the five key accords reached during the gathering.

The initial point of agreement focused on gathering financial resources to support environmental transitions and sustainable growth. This included exploring various public-private collaboration frameworks along with pioneering fiscal strategies.

Participants likewise concurred on promoting research and development of environmentally friendly technological innovations and boosting investments in entrepreneurial ecosystems. It is anticipated that this will help SMEs gain easier access to essential resources and assistance.

A different agreement centered around sustainably reshaping agricultural and food systems, ensuring both food and nutrition security while significantly contributing to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

There was agreement on fostering a highly skilled workforce, particularly in areas like science, technology, and innovation.

Representatives emphasized the significance of guaranteeing equal educational opportunities, increasing employment prospects, and tackling societal inequities.

During the summit, participants expressed a joint dedication to an efficient and eco-friendly shift towards alternative energy sources. This included enhancing collaboration in developing new technologies and exchanging knowledge, offering special financial assistance for initiatives focused on renewables, building crucial infrastructure needed for this transformation, and encouraging more active participation from businesses in these efforts.

"Let’s adopt the essence of unity, international collaboration, and resource integration grounded in a global, citizen-focused, and comprehensive strategy that ensures equitable advantages and risk distribution.

He noted that the achievements of the fourth P4G Summit highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting environmental transformation and sustainable growth.

"I sincerely urge countries, organizations, and enterprises to enhance their collaboration with P4G member states. Together, let’s take responsible steps toward a more verdant future for our planet. Let’s transform pledges into concrete actions, convert concepts into practical initiatives, and change collective objectives into steadfast execution, thereby charting a course towards sustainability and prosperity for every nation, people, and individual," stated Prime Minister Chính.

During the concluding event, the Vietnamese Prime Minister formally transferred the hosting responsibilities for the P4G Summit to Ethiopia’s leader, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

PM Chính extended his best wishes to Ethiopia for a successful hosting of the P4G Summit in 2027, expressing hope that the country will continue to uphold the cooperation spirit and significance of P4G in the footsteps of the successful summits held in Denmark, South Korea, Colombia, and Việt Nam.

After engaging in numerous practical and significant initiatives aimed at fostering environmental transformation and sustainable development, the P4G leaders agreed upon adopting two crucial declarations from the summit. These include the Hà Nội Declaration for a Sustainable and Human-centered Green Transformation, along with the Declaration on Enhancing Multilateral and Institutional Collaborations to Advance Environmental Change and Sustainable Growth.
