At Cubbes, we assist college and university students in obtaining crucial academic materials, tools, and study aids necessary for their success.

From structured resources to intelligent alerts and educational analytics, we aim to streamline and enhance the way students learn.

We currently serve over 40,000 students across more than 20 Nigerian universities and have digitized over 150,000 learning materials so far.

It's safe to say this has been an incredibly fulfilling experience as each day brings new students who join our platform, find immense value in it, and express gratitude for developing a tool that assists them in reaching their objectives.

It’s great when people let us know they enjoy what we’re doing. This encouragement motivates us to continue and expand our efforts.

The most significant factor contributing to our growth has been the recommendations made by students themselves; once they discover something effective, they spread the word.

What difficulties have you encountered due to Nigeria being a challenging economy?

Challenges will inevitably arise, and one of them is the lack of a centralized database for our resources.

We're working on establishing a resource database for higher education from scratch, which has been the most challenging aspect of our journey. Each day, we continually have to seek out new materials that must be uploaded onto the platform for the students' benefit.

What legal challenges arise due to potential patent rights over certain content, and how can one effectively manage these concerns?

We collaborate with students, course representatives, and faculty members who willingly provide and validate educational resources. Our platform serves as an online aid for learners rather than being a distributor of content.

We prioritize materials that are created by students, generated individually, or shared openly within academic circles. Every upload undergoes review to maintain standards of quality and genuineness.

So, if you don't charge for content, what's your strategy for generating revenue?

Our income is generated via our premium offerings such as offline usage, AI-driven study aids, a CGPA calculator, and enhanced productivity utilities. These elements form part of our subscription options aimed at boosting educational achievements.

For example, the AI function serves as a personal mentor for students, assisting them with condensed versions of their learning content and also producing practice questions for them.

Students can compute their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) and forecast outcomes as well. By doing so, we help them anticipate what their GPA would be with certain scores. This way, they have a clear target to work toward.

This model guarantees that the platform stays user-friendly for everyone while providing powerful features for those requiring additional support.

What sets Cubbes apart from other educational platforms?

Concerningly, our higher education sector has not evolved much over time. Despite rapid global progress, our curriculum designs, teaching approaches, and resources have stayed mostly unchanged. This leads to a discrepancy between student needs and institutional offerings. Cubbes aims to address this disparity.

So, what precisely do you suggest we should do?

I believe greater emphasis should be placed on education since many individuals feel it is preferable to pursue alternative paths rather than remain in school, given current trends.

It appears that there is no benefit to staying in school, as those who graduated several years back are struggling to find employment.

Therefore, our main objective should be to help individuals grasp that education extends beyond securing employment. It’s fundamentally about acquiring the knowledge necessary for your future and the entirety of your life ahead.

What guidance can you offer to students?

I advise the students to continually strive to excel in whichever field they are engaged. It’s important that they focus on their academic pursuits since achieving excellence typically comes with significant rewards.

Since the dedication you invest in achieving excellent outcomes will be the same effort you apply to various aspects of your life moving forward.

Therefore, if you manage to attain a high grade, such as a first-class or an upper-second class, the dedication you invested in your studies reflects the commitment you bring to various aspects of your life, including business and relationships. Hence, they should continue striving with this level of determination.

If I run into you within the next half-decade, where do you suppose Cubbes would stand?

Within five years, we envision Cubbes becoming the premier study partner for students all over Africa. A platform closely associated with academic achievement, where learners can access materials, monitor their educational advancement, and attain their targeted outcomes.
