New Delhi [India], April 7 (ANI): The former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra thinks that Sunrisers Hyderabad ( SRH ) lack an adequate draftsman on their team, which has turned into an issue because of the evolving conditions of the playing field during the current tournament. Indian Premier League ( IPL ).
During his speech at Jio Hostar, he highlighted that the pitch, once known for producing high scores, now yields significantly fewer runs, emphasizing the importance of having players with particular abilities, such as proficient spin bowlers.
It seems like they lack a dedicated strategist since they likely believed that drafting isn’t necessary anymore. However, recently this same wicket—which not long ago yielded over 280—now presents only around 150 runs. We’re talking about needing an additional 10-15 runs for them to be competitive. A total of 160 might have sufficed if there wasn’t any dew and they possessed stronger spinning capabilities. The nature of the pitch has shifted; the ground plays quite differently now, so having players with distinct skills becomes crucial. Aakash Chopra mentioned during an exclusive interview on Kuhl Fans Match Centre Live on JioHotstar.
Chopra also mentions that the Gujarat Titans have stronger hitting capabilities on quicker wickets, implying that their present batting order isn’t optimal for the current track conditions. He raised doubts about the squad’s choice to sideline seasoned spin bowlers such as Rahul Chahar and Adam Zampa, players adept at excelling on slow, spinning pitches.
"If you have your team play on a concrete pitch, they will stand out significantly from others. However, such a surface probably won’t help improve their overall batting performance. It’s confusing to me as well why Rahul Chahar remains on the sidelines. Currently, they only have one genuine spin bowler — Zeeshan Ansari, who hasn’t played at the international level yet. Meanwhile, Rahul Chahar has represented India internationally. Additionally, Adam Zampa, known for his high-level leg-spin bowling, could contribute too, but neither of these players seems to get a chance. This situation is quite puzzling," he noted.
Outstanding batting performances from captain Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Sherfane Rutherford, along with Mohammed Siraj's impressive four-wicket haul, stood out as the key elements of the game. GT crushed a reckless SRH At their own ground by seven wickets on Sunday.
This is SRH Their fourth consecutive loss. Since their opening game against the Rajasthan Royals, where they put up 286/6 thanks to Ishan Kishan’s hundred in his first match, they've had trouble piling up substantial scores with the bat. SRH . Since then, no SRH The batter has experience with scoring runs. (ANI)
