Optus is raising the cost of its monthly mobile phone plans, which will be a significant disappointment for subscribers.

Australia's second-biggest telco will increase the cost of certain plans starting from June 4, 2025.

The telecommunications company has informed its clients that the rise in charges is due to enhancing the network and technology to ensure continuous connectivity for all Australians.

A customer email disclosed that certain plans will see an increase of $2 to $6 each month.

The price hike includes several top-tier plans offered by the telecommunications leader such as Choice, Choice Plus, and Business Mobile Plus.

For Australian customers presently paying $52 monthly for an Optus Choice Plus plan, the price will increase to $55 starting in June.

The Managing Director of Customer Solutions at Optus, Anthony Shiner, stated that the telecommunications company is "dedicated to ensuring Australians stay connected and continuing to invest in." enhancing the velocity, reach, and consistency of our network, along with upgrading technology To deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

'Streaming device payment plans for current customers will stay unchanged,' Shiner informed Yahoo Finance.

' Customers who have plan modifications coming up will get an email or text notification detailing these adjustments.'

Customers affected by the price increases will additionally experience growth in their data allotments.

Optus declared additions ranging from 20GB to 40GB each month based on the selected plan.

Following the price increase, device payment arrangements with Optus will remain unchanged.

Customers who sign up with the telecommunications company now will face a higher rate moving ahead.

The modifications were implemented fewer than twelve months since the firm's previous rate hike, with costs for postpaid mobile plans increasing by $3 or $6 each month starting from August 2024.
