Netanyahu Accuses 'Leftist Deep State' of Weaponizing Justice Against Him

Tel Aviv [Israel], March 20 (ANI): The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu On Thursday criticized the "left-wing" Deep State Regarding "using" the justice system as a weapon against him, according to The Times of Israel.

In both America and Israel, when a prominent right-wing leader secures victory in an election, those on the left tend to respond negatively. Deep State "Uses the judicial system as a weapon to counter the public’s wishes. They won’t succeed anywhere! We remain steadfast together," Netanyahu shared in English via his official account. Netanyahu penned this message on his official prime minister account on X.

Nevertheless, the Israeli Prime Minister removed the initial tweet within less than an hour and reposted the same message using his personal account.

Following his detention and questioning of two individuals suspected in connection with an active probe, Netanyahu made this statement. The inquiry centers around allegations that tens of thousands of dollars may have been transferred from Qatar to one of Netanyahu’s associates or multiple aids.

According to The Times of Israel citing Hebrew Media reports, one suspect was sent back home with certain undisclosed conditions on Thursday morning, whereas the second individual remains under questioning.

Earlier this week, Axios cited Prime Minister’s aides stating that Netanyahu resolved to proceed with dismissing Shabak Chief Ronen Bar in early February following his visit to Washington. Inspired by President Trump's actions against the 'deep state' and his appointments of loyalists to crucial positions, as reported by The Times of Israel.

The government's plans to renew controversial legislation to increase political power over the judiciary along with their plans to fire Bar as well as Attorney General Gali-Baharav-Miara, added with the resumption of airstrikes in Gaza have triggered significant protests against the government in Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, President Isaac Herzog showed full trust in the nation's judicial system.

"Israel’s robust and autonomous judiciary is a valuable component of our democratic framework, and the president of Israel takes great pride in this institution," Herzog stated on X.

Additionally, Opposition leader Yair Lapid The 'Yesh Atid' party alleged that Netanyahu had "entirely lost his grip" following the post.

"He has lost control" and is now "promoting harmful conspiracy theories, eroding legal standards, and smearing Israel," stated the centrist party via their official X profile. "He is clearly panicking. He understands that those close to him are entangled with foreign agendas, and he fears that the facts will come to light. Such behavior does not represent leadership; instead, it showcases an alarming and humiliating state of distress." (ANI)
