The MTN Champs Season 3 Lagos Continental Relays came to an end on April 12, 2025, following a lively closing ceremony held at the Yabatech Sports Complex.
The occasion represented a significant milestone for Nigerian sports, introducing the first Olympic-sanctioned mixed relay races and highlighting remarkable athletes from different track and field disciplines.
On the concluding day, fierce contests intertwined with fun activities attracted families, friends, and employees from MTN Nigeria to watch. Attendees relished live tunes, engaging games, and particularly looked forward to the eagerly awaited MTN Staff Relays, wherein various departmental squads vied for accolades and pride. The Innovators triumphed splendidly, securing first place in both men’s and women’s divisions.
The MTN execs also got involved in the festivities, taking part in 50-meter dashes and stressing the significance of staying physically fit. The Chief Human Resources Officer, Esther Akinnukawe, underscored the company’s Go M.A.D (Make A Difference) initiative, motivating everyone to remain active and make an impact in their respective areas.
The Lagos Continental Relays drew more than 2,500 registrations from 155 institutions, featuring competitors across four age groups: Cadet (under-14), Youth (under-17), Junior (under-20), and Senior. This gathering was not just an ode to sporting prowess; it further underscored MTN's dedication to fostering potential Olympic athletes and promoting sports growth in Nigeria for years to come.
