Kawasaki Motors USA is issuing a voluntary safety recall on certain 2024 Ninja 500 and Z500 The models in question are impacted by a clutch problem that affects a particular batch of these motorcycles. In the problematic series of bicycles, the clutch release shaft might not have been correctly welded, potentially leading to its fracture during use. In May 2024, Kawasaki Motors Limited (referred to hereafter as KML), which is also the parent firm of Kawasaki Motors USA, initiated an inquiry into certain reported issues. During their probe, they found out that the supplier for the clutch release shaft might have inadvertently utilized ‘test components’ sourced from just one particular welding machine on motorcycles intended for regular use within this period. On March 20, 2025, Kawasaki Motors USA intends to inform its dealership network regarding this matter. Registered owners of the problematic motorcycles will receive notification letters from Kawasaki starting March 24, 2025. Additionally, Kawasaki has directed dealerships to halt the sales and deliveries of these bikes until they undergo the necessary recall repairs.
