In New Delhi [India], on Friday, Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that India’s increasing dependability in producing electronics and its stronger dedication to safeguarding intellectual property rights are being highly acknowledged globally.
He mentioned that this credibility is fostering new prospects for manufacturers, designers, and notably India's youth.
At the inauguration of a new Surface Mount Technology line at VVDN Technologies' Global Innovation Park in Manesar, the Minister emphasized the significant progress achieved through the government's 'Make in India' program.
"In due course, India has built robust expertise in electronic design. This proficiency encompasses items associated with the automotive industry, power electronics, signaling solutions, and security systems. The development and production of these goods are progressively taking place domestically, marking a substantial success as part of the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ initiative," he informed journalists.
"Following the recent incorporation of an electronic components plan, the extent and breadth of development will be further enhanced. Additionally, India’s dedication to product reliability and adherence to intellectual property rights is increasingly being acknowledged worldwide," he noted.
He highlighted that a crucial advancement in the electronics industry has been the rise of sizable design groups within production companies.
He mentioned that we are at a facility where the design team consists of around 5,000 engineers. These young professionals are working on incredibly intricate projects, integrating artificial intelligence into their work, thus surpassing traditional systems.
Describing it as a "significant step," Vaishnaw highlighted that India excels in design talent -- an advantage that numerous other nations do not possess.
He stated, 'This holds significant importance as it will provide us with a substantial edge over numerous other nations lacking such a high level of design expertise.'
He noted that India's electronics manufacturing Has expanded fivefold in the last ten years, reaching Rs 11 lakh crore, whereas exports have surged sixfold to exceed Rs 3.5 lakh crore.
Vaishnaw highlighted the rise of substantial internal design groups as a significant asset. He stated, "In our facility, more than 5,000 engineers are engaged in developing sophisticated AI-driven systems. Such an abundance of engineering expertise provides India with a considerable edge compared to numerous other nations."
He mentioned that the sector currently provides employment to approximately 25 lakh individuals, with numerous workers engaged in advanced technological developments. He further noted that the progress and faith in Indian goods are driving the industry ahead.
The minister additionally unveiled a fresh government-endorsed initiative aimed at electronics component production. He stated, “This program will enhance the ecosystem even more. Both passive and active components will now fall within the ambit of the semiconductor mission—thus laying down the groundwork for an autonomous electronic sector,” as per Vaishnaw’s statement.
The recently launched SMT line is VVDN's biggest yet, capable of handling PCBs as large as 850mm x 560mm, and boasts a rapid speed of 250,000 components per hour.
This advanced infrastructure will enable WVDN to manufacture large and complex products such as Al servers, networking equipment, and motherboards-- helping reduce import dependence and strengthening India's supply chain resilience. (ANI)
