Despite having 18 victories and only three defeats, Australia secured their position two points ahead of India. England claimed the third spot on the leaderboard.
As Australia and England competed in a record-breaking finale in Christchurch in 2022, India failed to advance beyond the group stages and continued their quest for their inaugural ICC Women's Cricket World Cup title.
Apart from the multiple-time champions Australia and England, the sole other team to have claimed victory in the Women's Cricket World Cup is New Zealand. The latter emerged victorious at their own turf in 2000 when they hosted the event.
The White Ferns, current titleholders of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup from 2024, secured their spot in the 2025 event by ranking among the top five teams in the Women's Championship standings, not including host nation India.
Above them finished the three-time semifinalists South Africa, who continue their quest for an inaugural ICC World Cup title following close calls during the 2023 and 2024 Women's T20 World Cups.
The other team securing their place is Sri Lanka, which did not manage to qualify for the preceding version of the event. The last qualification slots for the 2022 competition were determined based on rankings because the COVID-19 pandemic had disrupted the cricket calendar.

Ireland ended up at the bottom of the ICC Women's Championship and are now looking to make a comeback to the World Cup after an absence of two decades.
The two additional teams competing for qualification have not participated in an ODI World Cup previously. Scotland and Thailand secured their spots in the qualifiers thanks to their positions in the ICC Women's ODI rankings.
Those teams possess highly current experience from the World Cup platform, having participated in the previous year's Women's T20 World Cup, yet they are still seeking their first victory.
Thailand made an unforgettable first appearance at the 2020 edition of the Women's T20 World Cup after qualifying via the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2019, similar to Scotland, they did not secure a win throughout the tournament.
At the conclusion of this round-robin style competition, only the top two squads will advance to India. All games will be played across two locations in Lahore, starting from April 9th. The opening match will see Pakistan facing Ireland, with Scotland competing against the West Indies in the second game.
