Football: Marinos Ax Manager Holland Following Subpar Season Start

The Yokohama F Marinos have dismissed Steve Holland, who previously served as an assistant to the English national team, from his position as head coach after only four months with the club. During this period, they secured victory in just one match within the top tier of Japanese football known as the J-League.

Holland was dismissed on Friday, just two days following their 3-2 defeat against Shimizu S-Pulse, which placed the five-time J-League champions at the bottom of the table in 18th position after completing 11 matches.

The 54-year-old Englishman has become the second manager of Olympiacos to be dismissed during the season in the past two years, following Harry Kewell's departure last July.

Patrick Kisnorbo, who represented Australia internationally and is now 44 years old, has been appointed as the interim manager at Nissan Stadium.

Despite their domestic difficulties, Marinos performed more impressively in international competitions under Holland, reaching the quarterfinal stage of the Asian Champions LeagueElite.
