Edo's Strategic Digital Policy Summit: A Two-Day Review and Reinvention

BENIN – The Edo state government has reiterated its dedication to digital transformation through the initiation of a two-day high-level policy review workshop designed to create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for digital development and creativity.

Under the umbrella of the Edo Digital Policy Project, this workshop serves as a crucial meeting point with key figures in the state’s digital governance to guarantee that the Edo Digital Policy stays current, adaptable, and effective.

The workshop starting on April 16, 2025, in Benin City, convened government representatives and participants from the digital sector to thoroughly evaluate the present state of digital policies.

The Edo State Commissioner for the Ministry of Information and Communication, Barr. Paul Ohonbamun, was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Desmond Agbama. They opened with remarks underscoring the administration’s ambition for an interconnected Edo—a place where digital advancements improve operational efficiency, public services, and community participation.

His aim was to synchronize the structure with current conditions and encourage the successful integration and execution of digital governance approaches throughout various government bodies including ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

The workshop included an interactive session conducted by digital governance facilitator Osayi Omokaro, who interacted with stakeholders about the key aspects of e-governance and digital interfaces to enhance public and civil services.

The key participants comprised the Permanent Secretary at the State Transformation Office, Dr. Mrs. Joy Akhigbe; the Director of Documentation and Publication, Mr. Matthew Okunsebor; the Director of Communication, Mr. Dan Odion; the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Grace Ogbeide; and the Director of Shared Services, Mrs. Omosigho Joy. They were joined by numerous high-ranking officials from various MDAs.

This effort marks a significant move towards developing a forward-thinking, tech-oriented Edo State.
