On Tuesday, March 18, the Dutch monarch addressed the significance of respecting citizens' rights and fostering an open conversation between governmental bodies during their speech.

"The people of Kenya, much like those in the Netherlands, desire their rights as free citizens to be upheld and their voices to be acknowledged. I am glad that our robust relationship enables us to concentrate on crucial matters including human rights, proper governance, and accountability during my visit," he said.

Later, he mentioned that he would interact with young Kenyans to gain insight into their views on recent events.

William Ruto, Willem-Alexander sign MoUs

President William Ruto disclosed that Kenya and the Netherlands have entered into three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) along with a Letter of Intent aimed at enhancing cooperation across multiple domains such as agriculture, trade and investments, industrialization, tourism, climate initiatives, regional stability, and interpersonal exchanges.

"These accords will boost Dutch investment in Kenya, reinforce our transformation in agriculture and industry, and propel infrastructural development. This will expedite our economic progress and generate additional employment prospects for our young people," stated Ruto.

He also recognized the Netherlands as one of Kenya’s foremost trade allies in Europe, highlighting it as a reliable partner in development and an essential collaborator in transforming the nation’s economy.

"We highly regard this partnership and pledge to enhance our connections, broaden economic prospects, and cultivate sustainable cooperations that propel advancement in both countries," he stated additionally.

The accords were finalized during bilateral discussions conducted at State House in Nairobi, where President Ruto hosted King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

Subsequently, the leaders spoke to the press, reinforcing their dedication to enhancing both diplomatic ties and economic cooperation between the two countries.
