Doge Faces Bitter Defeat as Judge Rejects USAID Shutdown Ruling

A U.S. federal judge instructed the Trump administration and the billionaire Elon Musk To halt the disassembly of USAID and because the attempt to abolish it probably contravened the U.S. Constitution.

Maryland On Tuesday, District Judge Theodore Chuang issued a preliminary injunction to prevent the administration from shutting down the agency.

The Court concludes that the defendants' efforts to rapidly terminate USAID operations, particularly their choice to apparently close the USAID headquarters indefinitely without obtaining consent from a properly designated USAID officer, may have contravened various provisions of the United States Constitution, as stated by Chuang.

He stated that the actions not only hurt the plaintiffs but also adversely affect the public interest as they prevent the publicly elected representatives from performing their duties. Congress within their congressional power to determine whether, when, and how to shut down an agency established by Congress."

This order represents another setback for both the Trump administration and Musk’s DOGE team, coming amid multiple legal challenges as they seek to reduce expenditures and downsize the federal government.
