Anambra Govt Empowers 10,000 Youths Through Technology Skills Program

To revamp Anambra State as a technology-focused and youth-centric economic hub, Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government has initiated the second stage of the 'One Youth, Two Skills' initiative. This effort aims to enhance the capabilities of 10,000 young individuals throughout the region.

The purpose of this program is to tackle unemployment, boost employability, and equip young people with the skills needed for jobs in the 21st century.

During an exclusive interview with The PUNCH about the program's effects, Chief Eloka Amobi, who leads the Youth Wing of the All ProgressivesGrand Alliance in the UK, praised Governor Soludo’s guidance and perspective on fostering youth growth.

“I am particularly excited about the consistency Governor Soludo has shown in his youth-focused development agenda. The ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ programme has received widespread commendation, and the launch of its second phase in August 2024 shows the administration’s commitment to sustainable empowerment,” Amobi stated.

He highlighted that the program goes beyond providing vocational training; it lays down the groundwork for sustained economic stability by giving young people hands-on and tech-oriented abilities tailored to meet today’s employment market needs.

"As a technology professional, I'm excited about the administration’s progressive strategy. Soludo isn’t merely offering skills; he’s arming our young people with the resources needed for the technological era. By ensuring at least two skills per youth, we're giving them an early advantage whether they seek jobs or aim to be business owners," Amobi stated.

Amobi states that this program is an integral component of the broader strategy implemented by the Soludo-administered government aimed at addressing youth unemployment through a combination of educational initiatives, skill-building programs, and enhancements in infrastructure development.

He also noted that the state has trained more than 30,000 individuals in technology sectors and initiated 'smart schools' to promote digital literacy among young students. According to him, over 8,000 educators have been hired and provided with laptops, helping to close the educational divide between public and private institutions.

Amobi went on to comment on the wider effects of these policies, describing them as forward-thinking and all-encompassing.

"Governor Soludo’s approach encompasses every local government area. There has been progress in providing better electricity access, supplying clean water to more than 30 communities, and enhancing security via programs such as the Udo Ga-Achi initiative. These efforts span throughout the entire state, ensuring nobody is excluded," he emphasized.

In the realm of politics, Amobi encouraged young people to grasp the significance of maintaining consistency in leadership, observing that numerous initiatives started under Soludo are unfolding gradually and necessitate ample time to yield complete benefits.

He stated, "Under the guidance of APGA UK Chapter Chairman Chief Richard Ilorah and APGA National Youth Leader Comr. Eze Onyebuchi, we are rallying young people from around the world to back Governor Soludo."

The answer has arrived, and it needs to move forward.

Facing economic hurdles, the Soludo administration’s dedication to enhancing young people’s skills, embracing new technologies, and promoting participatory governance remains a source of optimism for a thriving Anambra, guided by a forward-thinking generation.
