Namibian Women Celebrate Historic First Female President

A number of Namibian women have commended newly-elected President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah for becoming Namibia's inaugural woman president.

Nandi-Ndaitwah makes history as the first woman president in the SADC area and follows suit as the second female leader on the African continent after Liberia’s former President Ellen Johnson.

As she prepares to take her oath of office within a day, Namibian citizens are expressing their thoughts and viewpoints regarding the nation’s inaugural woman president.

A lot of women think that her guidance will introduce a distinctive method to governance.

Namibian human rights advocate Rosa Namises voiced her trust in newly elected President Nandi-Ndaitwah.

She stated, 'I have previously been guided by women, having been raised by my grandmother and mother. This will be my first experience with a female president leading me, and I am quite excited about it.'

Hileni Shuudifonya, the chairperson of the Rural Women's Assembly, voiced her happiness, stating that Namibian women will have full representation under the new President.

"As rural women, we insist that within the next five years, all women must have access to land," she stated.
