A football team from England is grieving over the loss of their young player, who died while swimming.

A 15-year-old named Izaiah Smith passed away while swimming in one of the lakes located in South-East London.

The Metropolitan Police stated that they received notification at approximately 3:00 PM regarding a missing boy who faced challenges in the water.

As a result, specialized dive teams, the London Ambulance Service, and the London Fire Brigade were dispatched to aid in the search operation.

A few hours following the drowning incident, authorities discovered the young casualty at Beckenham Place Park within the Lewisham district late Friday evening. The rescue operation lasted more than seven hours before they were located.

As reported by Sky News, once the child was located, he was immediately taken to the hospital for care; however, he was unfortunately declared deceased upon arrival.

He was taken to the hospital but unfortunately did not make it through," stated a Scotland Yard representative. "Although his passing came unexpectedly, it is not presently considered to be suspicious.

After he passed away, Dorking Wanderers F.C. posted an emotionally charged tribute on social media to honor the young player and remember him fondly.

The club expressed profound sorrow over the passing of one of their young football players, Izaiah Smith," they stated on their X platform. "No words can adequately convey the enormity of this tragedy. Izaiah was not only immensely gifted but also dearly loved, and his absence will leave a significant void for all those who had the privilege of knowing him." The statement continued, "We remain dedicated to offering support in every possible manner to everyone impacted by this situation. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and fellow team members as they navigate through these extremely challenging times.
