Ahmedabad (Gujarat), [India], March 26 (ANI): Punjab Kings PBKS ) captain Shreyas Iyer showed his joy after guiding his team to an exciting 11-run win against Gujarat Titans GT ) during the current Indian Premier League ( IPL On Tuesday, Iyer delivered an outstanding innings, scoring an undefeated 97 runs from only 42 balls, which helped Punjab set a challenging target of 243/5. He was awarded the Player of the Match for his performance.

After the match, Iyer emphasized the importance of his performance during the opening game of the season.

"Scoring an unbeaten 97 in our first match of the season is the cherry on top. I hit a boundary with my very first delivery, which really boosted my confidence. Adding to that was that stunning flick six against Rabada," he mentioned.

Iyer also praised Shashank Singh For his dynamic appearance, during which he scored an impressive 44 runs in only 16 deliveries.

"Shashank contributed around 44 runs from approximately 16-17 deliveries, which was quite vital for the team. We established a standard that we needed to be aggressive," Iyer further stated.

Although Punjab's batting stood out, their bowlers also rose to the occasion, notably Arshdeep Singh , finishing with stats of 2/36 and playing a crucial part in implementing the wide Yorker tactic.

"Arshdeep had a significant part in implementing the wide Yorker strategy. He joined and mentioned that the ball is actually swinging more due to the saliva applied by the bowlers.
