At least, on paper.
Honda might be intentionally dropping hints or perhaps unintentionally revealing bits of information regarding its V3R engine concept, and whatever the case may be, these clues are incredibly intriguing. Initially, we had the EICMA reveal , which people (including us, naturally) admired for weeks. Afterward, we experienced a few potentially less thrilling changes: A brief anecdote Regarding a test ride for a motorcycle model during a Honda Motors Q&A session; a trademark filing there.
So what do we have today?
Another trademark filing, but this time, with the US Patent and Trademark Office. And this time, it makes it clear that Honda's doubling down on that controversial "E-Compressor" designation for the V3R. How do we know? Because that's the full text of the trademark filing: "V3R E-Compressor." Honda can't really say it more plainly than that.
To make everything perfectly transparent, this is merely an application at present; it hasn’t been allocated to an examiner nor has it received approval yet. Nonetheless, the objectives underlying it are quite evident. Additionally, the International Classification designated for this submission indicates that it pertains to “motorcycles and their components.”
Up until now, this is an application for a trademark related specifically to certain letters and numbers arranged in a particular way; it does not pertain to a logo design. The application actually states that “the mark comprises standard characters with no claims to any special font style, size, or color.” At present, we do not have enough information regarding additional aspects of the V3R E-Compressor, including whether there will be a distinctive logo associated with it.
Nevertheless, progress remains progress, and observing consistent advancement openly gives the impression that even more could be happening backstage. Might we witness a full reveal of the V3R E-Compressor within roughly half a year at EICMA 2025? Perhaps, but for now, that’s merely conjecture. Honda has yet to announce anything officially regarding their offerings, so our best guess is simply that they will attend the event.
Are you looking forward to the V3R E-Compressor? It might become more appealing once we can actually listen to it. Would you like to try riding one if you ever get the opportunity? Do you believe Honda should include an E-Clutch on this model? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
