OSAKA – At the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai event, a pavilion centered around "Mobile Suit Gundam" invites guests to ponder the futuristic world presented in this beloved animated show.
The " Gundam Next Future Pavilion The unveiling of the facility in Osaka's Konohana Ward was conducted by entertainment firm Bandai Namco Holdings Inc.
In this walkthrough-style attraction inspired by the anime’s narrative, guests can embark on an “orbital elevator” departing from the “Yumeshima terminal.” As they reach the “Star Jaburo” space station, they witness mobile suits—humanoid robots central to the series’ plot—at work for serene endeavors. Unexpectedly, uncontrolled space debris disrupts the peace; however, this leads to the dramatic appearance of glass-feather-equipped Gundams, which excite the visitors as these machines safeguard them. The ride provides an engaging encounter through synchronized vibrations in the flooring, perfectly aligned with visual and audio effects.
Next to the pavilion is a "full-scale" Gundam statue kneeling at an impressive height of 17 meters and tipping the scales at roughly 49 metric tons. The display seeks to spark fresh ideas for the future by exploring concepts such as "living in space" and "unrealized technological advancements," which are featured in the anime series.
Yuji Asako, the president of Bandai Namco Holdings, stated, "My wish is for this initiative to inspire children, who will forge the future, to cultivate an interest in emerging technologies and outer space."
To visit the pavilion, reservations are necessary.
