Desi Combat Helicopter Deal Worth ₹45,000 Crore Set for Quick Cabinet Approval

New Delhi [ India On March 25 (ANI), the Union Cabinet is expected to approve an agreement shortly for acquiring 145 Light Combat Helicopters for the Indian military. India n Army and Air Force from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

The Defence The ministry is strongly advocating for the acquisition of these helicopters to support missions near the China and Pakistan borders. This move would significantly contribute to job creation and the growth of the aerospace sector domestically, according to defense sources who spoke to ANI.

Last June, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was awarded the contract for 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH). They mentioned that the project is now awaiting final approval following negotiations.

Out of the 156 Light Combat Helicopters, 90 would be allocated for the India n Army while 66 would be designated for theصند India n Air Force The IAF will be leading this collaborative purchase, they mentioned.

The LCH, which is alternatively called the Prachand , is the world's only attack helicopter that can land and take off at an altitude of 5,000 meters (16,400 ft), which makes it ideal to operate in the high-altitude areas of the Siachen glacier and Eastern Ladakh.

The Prachand is also able to launch various air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles and can neutralize the enemy's air defense systems.

The government has stressed its aim to achieve self-sufficiency in defense production via the "Make in India" initiative. India as part of Atmanirbhar India's programs. The administration has issued the largest contract for domestically produced defense equipment, covering 83 Light Combat Aircraft. Additionally, they are set to purchase another 97 units with final talks now completed.
